Images - Marines take to sand during Okinawa sumo - DVIDS

Two members of the Kin Town community wrestle for the title as lightweight champion during the 35th annual Okinawa Island-Wide Sumo Tournament July 26 at the Kin Town Athletic Field. The wrestlers start in the center of the ring with both hands on their opponent’s belt. They push, pull, rock and sweep the each other’s legs in attempt to get their opponent on the ground and on their back. Marines with various units stationed on Camp Hansen participated in the event as a way to connect with the community.
