Mortal Kombat 1 Review: Marking a new era in the bone-krunching franchise, Mortal Kombat 1 is a neat entry for newcomers to the fighting game genre. This soft reboot doesn’t reinvent its roots in any form but drastically evolves over its predecessors from a visual perspective, delivering more gore and excellent cinematics. The new Kameo system opens room for inventive team-up combos, while the Invasions mode soon turns into a boring grind fest. NetherRealm partly nails the story, bringing more humane backstories for its beloved characters, but falters when dealing with multiversal concepts. Mortal Kombat 1 is out now on PC, PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and Nintendo Switch.
